Front End Developer

We are looking for a mid to senior Front End Developer to complement our existing team of UX architects, to offer our clients an holistic design and development service.

The ideal candidate will be flexible enough to work in a variety of contexts; from being embedded with our clients' agile delivery teams for enterprise-level web applications, to being sole engineer on native iOS and Android apps.

The ideal candidate should also be enthusiastic and detail-oriented, being able to discuss design decisions and faithfully reproduce them across multiple devices and contexts.

You should also have the ability (and desire) to self-start and problem solve as well as be receptive to feedback. You should have strong organizational skills and have the ability to manage multiple deadlines and conflicting priorities.

The job is based in our Cambridge, UK office – no remote candidates please.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the front-end development of all client and in-house projects.
• Write and maintain high-quality code across multiple projects.
• Work with stakeholders to deliver the best interface for the people using the product/service.
• Work with project teams from other disciplines to ensure the best final product.
• Become knowledgeable of and conversant in user-centered design methodologies.
• Maintain Akendi’s high quality assurance standards, ensuring that the work produced is accurate and error-free.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional experience.
• Proven web/interface development experience. Including code examples and/or completed projects in your covering letter will be helpful.
• Proven practical knowledge of website structure, functionality, requirements, and technological best practices.
• Knowledge and experience of JavaScript, HTML/CSS, React, Angular, etc.
• Possess a proficient understanding of online production procedures.
• Bonus points for experience with PHP and other server-side technologies.
• Work well independently and within a team, willing to pitch in where needed.
